  • In his capacity as an Aortic surgeon and the Lead Clinician of the Scottish National Service for Aortic Arch, Thoracic, Thoracoabdominal and Suprarenal Aneurysm oversees a specialised team dedicated to treating complex aortic pathologies. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary care, advancing clinical practices, and contributing to national health strategies.   • The Edinburgh Aortic Summit is an international multidisciplinary meeting I founded and chair annually, focused on the latest advancements in aortic surgery, complex aortic disease management, and innovation in cardiovascular care. The summit brings together leading experts from vascular, cardiothoracic, interventional radiology, and anesthesia specialties, creating an unparalleled platform for high-level clinical exchange, education, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

    Since its inception, the Summit has grown into a global event hosted at the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, drawing speakers and delegates from over 30 countries. Our sessions cover cutting-edge topics including thoracoabdominal aneurysm surgery, aortic arch pathology, endovascular innovations, and national service models. Each year features a blend of keynote lectures, technical case discussions, and abstract presentations.

    As Chair, I lead on all aspects of strategy, programming, speaker engagement, and international partnerships. I have also spearheaded the creation of publishing pathways for accepted abstracts in peer-reviewed journals and secured industry sponsorship from major medical device companies.
